In 2024, Hand.Werk.Haus Salzkammergut and its project partner Otelo will be focusing on the joint Capital of Culture project “SCALA-New Paths between Crafts and Art”.
In its special exhibition PerlMUT, the Centre for Contemporary Craft Culture will be showing a wide variety of exhibits by craftspeople and artists, from associations and schools, from regional to international, from the pearl bonnet to the courage to go far afield.
In 2024, the exhibits by craftspeople from near and far will be joined for the first time by contributions from artists from Europe and overseas, as well as from the Fachschule für Gewandmeister in Hamburg, the Fashion School Ebensee and the master sculptor class at the HTBLA Hallstatt.
Exciting contrasts and perspectives arise, for example, from the juxtaposition of outfits by the American textile artist Shae Bishop with traditional costumes from the Salzkammergut or objects by the Japanese glass artist Shige Fujishiro with objects by Dutch and local bead embroiderers.
