Meeting point: Werkskapelle Steyrermühl – just before the ALFA main entrance
The aim and impetus of HOT BOX BUILDING – a mobile wooden construction based on the traditional Japanese omakase concept, which meets contemporary sausage stand architecture – was and is to ensure positive developments, particularly in the area of tension between cultural tourism and regional development in the Salzkammergut, and to position the pub as a central element. The wealth of experience and the network from the four HOT BOX interventions in 2024 should once again emphasise and strengthen the intention of the Capital of Culture’s pub lab in the fifth and final edition. HOT BOX BUILDING as part of the Salzkammergut 2024 pub lab is intended to inspire and positively irritate one last time.
Together with the Bruckner Year, the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024 will celebrate the end of the year on 30 November under the title “And so on – All All! Culture”, the cultural year is drawing to a close.
As part of the event, HOT BOX BUILDING will also be performing for the last time for the time being: This time,in a culinary modified formation, different chefs from Upper Austria and the future Capital of Culture regions, the Slovenian Novia Gorica and the German Chemnitz Köch:innen will come together and cook together; the products and dishes used will also refer to the different culinary cultures.
In this last HOT BOX BUILDING so far, the different flavours of the Capital of Culture regions will be linked together. Also based on the Upper Austria Tourism campaign “Alle Alle! Culture” campaign, the core message is that culture is not something that divides, but something that unites. True to the campaign’s guiding principle: “We are all culture.”
