Zwölfer Kogel and Almsee are ideal locations for a project that was realized as part of the Capital of Culture Salzkammergut Bad Ischl 2024: the installation woodpassage and the artistic-scientific project The Temporal Forest focus on the importance of forest and wood for the Capital of Culture Region Salzkammergut.
Not far from the parking lot of the Seegasthof Almsee, the woodpassage, a walk-through installation made of wood, can be seen from September 12 to November 3. The passage conveys the transformation from tree to house with simple pictogrammatic signs in 40 steps. The woodpassage project as part of the Capital of Culture 2024 is supported by the cooperation platform Forst Holz Papier and funded by the Austrian Forest Fund.
A millennium camera has been installed near the summit of the Zwölferkogel, around 1,600 meters above the valley, which illustrates the changes in the Almtal over the coming centuries. The Temporal Forest explores the question of how our perception of time influences our understanding and behavior towards our environment.
