Vienna’s Beisl is Rickerl’s living room and stage: In thick cigarette smoke, he plays his way straight into the hearts of those who hang around there every night for a small allowance. However, his income is not even enough to go to the cinema with his son Dominik, whom he loves more than anything else. Rickerl usually stands in his own way — whether as a good father or as an ambitious musician. It is only when he runs the risk of losing his son that he realizes that he can no longer run away from himself.
Cinema as a guests
Two institutions, whose extinction in rural regions has often been complained of, are more lively than ever under the motto CINEMA AS A GUEST and invite you on a cinematic culinary tour through the Upper Austrian foothills of the Alps from October to November. Taverns as well as cultural-gastronomic meeting places are transformed into inviting movie theaters that have more to offer than the obligatory popcorn bag. A diverse program of current Austrian and international auteur films is provided, among others, by Cultural Initiative 08/16 Gmunden.
