In Western art, empty space is viewed as a background, something to be filled. In Eastern art, empty space is the origin of form, the womb of figure. If you take this principle of the Taoist rules of beauty into account, you can find new ways to work with space. The balance between positive and negative spaces is the key to aesthetic compositions. The well-known Argentine calligrapher Marina Soria is coming to Austria specifically to hold a course at the Bartlhaus. She will show her work at the 2024 Capital of Culture exhibition in the Bartlhaus.
