Let’s go, Salzkammergut!

The grand Finale

Culture always means daring to begin. Therefore, the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024 and all 23 municipalities want to venture out together with the OÖ KulturEXPO Anton Bruckner 2024 towards the end of this year. This departure should be a jump into a new consciousness, to dare to start again and again.

About the project

Kick-off: The European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024 will be breaking new ground from the end of October. The programme will kick off in Ausseerland on 26/10 and 27/10/24, the handover ceremony to the future European Capitals of Culture will take place in Bad Ischl on 22/11 The programme will continue via Bad Goisern, Ebensee and other municipalities to Laakirchen and Gmunden.

And keep it up – Culture it‘s all of us!: On 30/11/24 from 11am-8pm, the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024 and the Upper Austrian KulturEXPO Anton Bruckner 2024 are joining forces again at the ALFA Laakirchen to celebrate this diverse super year of culture together with the region, Upper Austria and the whole of Europe and to remember what inspired, surprised and drove us forward this year. They will also look to the future. With concerts, theatre, a children’s programme, readings, vernissages, a cinema room, culinary delights and much more, there is something for everyone!

Afterwards, the party continues open-ended through the night in the centre of Gmunden. Concerts, DJ sets, performances and late-night readings await you there (free shuttle service from Laakirchen to Gmunden).

On 01/12 at 11 am, the hangover breakfast – networking and coming together – will take place in the Remise 1894 Stern & Hafferl, also in Gmunden.

We are looking forward to ending this European Capital of Culture year together, which also stands for a new beginning in the Salzkammergut and for the future of rural areas: culture is the new salt!
