About the project

The museum, located directly on the Esplanade, used to be a well-known hotel – the Austria – and this is where our story begins. We immerse ourselves in the world of summer holidays, the beginnings of the spa, railway nostalgia and embark together on a journey through the historic Salzkammergut and Ischl. We meet illustrious guests at the hotel bar and encounter their famous hosts.

But what lies behind the glamour of operetta music, soirées and waltzes? The exhibition sheds light on this. It is surprising, thought-provoking and raises questions that do not leave out the more sensitive periods of history. It is a new concept, a complete reorientation and redesign that extends across the centuries into the present and the future.
