Otto Hainzl studied biophysics at the Technical University in Vienna. This was followed by periods abroad. In 2005, he switched to photography and developed his own body of work. The artist has had numerous exhibitions throughout Europe and has received prizes and scholarships. Further stays abroad in Europe and Iran followed. His works have been purchased by the Republic of Austria, the Province of Upper Austria and the City of Linz. Hainzl’s media focus lies in photography, but also in the medium of video and text. He usually works in series, such as “Europastrasse”, “Hotels I Know”, “Defence de Cracher” or “WIR”. His books have been published by Kehrer Verlag: “corviale – ein Wohnblock am Stadtrand von Rom” (2015) and “TWENTYSIX HOUSES ALONG WALDEGGSTRASSE” (2022).
