The Fête de la Musique, also known as World Music Day, celebrates the universal language of music every year on 21 June, the beginning of summer: in over 540 cities worldwide, this year also throughout the Salzkammergut, Upper Austria and Styria.
In Gmunden, the Fête de la Musique covers the entire city centre. The venues are Rathausplatz, Schubertplatz, Am Graben, Rinnholzplatz, Marktplatz, Traungasse, Museumsplatz, Kirchengasse, Salzfertigergasse, Schiffslände and Esplanade. In total, more than 40 groups and soloists will be performing – and all this with free admission.
Visitors will not only get their fill of music, but also culinary delights, as the nearby bars and restaurants will of course be serving food out onto the street.
The Traunseetram and the city buses will be running free of charge on the evening of the Fête from 5 pm to midnight. The city centre will be closed to private traffic from 4.30 pm to 1 am between the Traunbrücke bridge, the entrance to the underground car park and the Am Graben post office junction . Only the tram runs through. The open GM 100 railcar will also be in musical action, albeit without a ride, which will offer a surprise this year.

The greatest possible reduction in motorised private transport and the activation of cycling culture as well as visits to several venues would be desirable!
