Theresia Pesendorfer talks about her memories of her work in the resistance via a soundtrack from the Jainzenberg to the Kurdirektion. The interview was kindly made available in full length by Maximilian Stelzhammer.
The Salzkammergut is not only a place of nature and culture, but also has an important political history. During the National Socialist era, a strong tradition of resistance was cultivated here. Remote alpine pastures and high mountain regions served as hiding places (so-called “Igel”) for those persecuted for political and religious reasons. Knowledge of the barren environment and harsh climatic conditions, together with the cohesion of the local communities, helped the persecuted to survive here.
