Edgar Unterkirchner is a freelance saxophonist and composer who moves between different styles and projects. Born into improvised music, he uses his unique style to build bridges between musical genres and cultures, people and stories, old and new. “Art cannot be pigeonholed, the joy of playing even less so.” As a live and studio saxophonist, he has been on a journey of discovery with a wide variety of people and projects, including Peter Turrini, Malin Hartelius, Eduard Kutrowatz, Brigitte Karner, James Moore and Manfred Bockelmann, for whose film “Zeichnen gegen das Vergessen” he composed and recorded music. He has received numerous international awards for his musical work, including the Gold World Medal at the New York Festivals for “Best original music”, First Prize at the International Film Music Festival Fimucinema/Tenerife, World Gold Medal at the Global Music Awards in California in the category “Best Soundtrack”, etc.
