Gallery Tanglberg, Vorchdorf, Gallery for Drawings & Contemporary Art
In 1984 Erich Spitzbart opened Galerie Tanglberg – a gallery for contemporary art – in the house at Pettenbacherstraße 3 in Vorchdorf. Young artists were very active in Upper Austria at that time – Hubert Scheibl, Gunter Damisch, Franz Blaas and others. They also included the draftsman Johann Jascha as well as Othmar Zechyr, who occupied a room in the house from 1986 to 1992. The “Junge Wilden” produced powerful, informal paintings and drawings.
In the early 1990s, exciting projects followed in the gallery, often conceptual in nature, especially through close contact with Prof. Thomas Zaunschirm of the University of Salzburg, who at the time was convincingly engaged with art of today.
The gallery program includes various forms of visual art: such as conceptual art, painting, sculpture, printmaking and drawing. Numerous exhibitions with works of classical modern and contemporary art document the intensive exchange with artists. Drawing has been the main focus since the beginning and has developed into an extensive collection.
