Oleksandra Krushynska first studied at the Taras Shevchenko University in Kiev and completed courses at the Universities of Wroclaw and Vienna within the framework of Erasmus programs. In the meantime, she also worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and as a teacher of Ukrainian history and world history at the Ukrainian School “Erudyt” in Vienna. Here she has been working at the Institute of Eastern European History as a university assistant since 2018. Her dissertation is dedicated to socio-political transformations in Galicia under Habsburg rule.
Sometimes the imperial legacy weighs heavily on Bad Ischl, and alternative perspectives are largely ignored – kitsch and clichés dominate, with history being clotted in the shadow of the Habsburg myth. An exhibition in the public space as well as talks and statements by European experts dare to take a differentiated look at the imperial and royal period.
