About the project

Water spirits, ash roses, deep dark alpine lakes, English counterfeit money, a young empress with her black chambermaid. William of Habsburg – the King of Ukraine and the waves of the Danube from the Black Forest to the Black Sea appear in the plays that six authors have written for the Capital of Culture during their residencies in the Salzkammergut.

Award-winning young poets from Romania, Vienna, Senegal, Steyr, Tyrol, Kiev and Buenos Aires have been living and working in Bad Ischl, Bad Goisern, Bad Mitterndorf, Roitham, Gmunden, Grünau im Almtal and Salzburg since January, exploring the concept of home and daring to look out into the world with open eyes and hearts.

A rousing “concert” of different voices on ideas, thoughts and feelings about our origins, departures, migrations and homelands. The preliminary results will be shown in short scenic installations with actors from Vienna, Hamburg, Bochum, Timisoara and Salzburg.

This will be followed by a guest performance in the German State Theatre – in our previous cultural capital Timisoara.
